Lucia Neaga- Violin I
Lucia Neaga was born
into a family with strong musical traditions. Her parental grandfather, Stefan
Neaga, was a prominent composer, pianist and conductor, and is considered to be
one of the founding fathers of the Moldavian professional music
culture.
Her father George Neaga, who had a profound influence on her musical growth, was a concert
violinist, teacher, and one of the most talented and well-known Moldavian
composers.
Ms. Neaga began her early musical education and violin studies in her native Moldova, at the special
Music School for Gifted and Talented Students in Kishinev and continued in
Russia, at the Gorky State Conservatory, where she earned her Master’s and
Doctor’s degrees in Violin Performance and Musical Theory. Ms. Neaga has taken
part in prestigious international music festivals in Romania and France, and is
a prizewinner in the All-Moldavian Competition and a finalist in All-Russia
Violin Competition in Kazan, USSR.
She has performed as a violin soloist in such notable locations as the Organ Hall and Philharmonic Hall
in Kishinev, the Music Academy and Ateneum Hall in Bucharest and the Gorky State
Conservatory.
She participated in numerous international tours with Kishinev Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra to
Spain, Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland and
Romania.
Ms. Neaga has also had a prominent teaching career since 1988, in Moldavian State Conservatory, and in
both the Moldavian and Russian Special Music Schools for Gifted and Talented
Students.
In the year 2000, Ms. Neaga received a Diploma for Special Merits by Students’
Education in Science, Culture and Art Field from the President of Moldova. One
of her students became a Prizewinner in Romania’s most prestigious International
Concourses - “G. Georgescu”, “G. Enescu”, and “Jeuinesses Musicales”, and is now
studying violin under Emuanuel Borok, the Concertmaster of Dallas Symphony, in
Houston, TX.
Ms. Neaga currently plays with different ensembles including Dallas Chamber
Orchestra, and is the Concertmaster of Allen Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra. In
the year 2002, she played a recital at University of Texas at Arlington, and in
2004 she played Beethoven’s Violin Concerto with Allen Philharmonic Symphony.
She now teaches in an Elementary Strings program in McKinney, and gives private
lessons at home in Allen, TX.
